My Dad encouraged me to choose a career, preferable a self-employed one, and only go to college if it was necessary for that career. I have many friends who are stuck in the "get an education, go to college and get a “good” job" paradigm. But they lack the confidence and motivation to strike out on their own... ~Adam Mark,

I definitely had family encouragement, especially from my Dad. My Dad encouraged me to choose a career, preferable a self-employed one, and only go to college if it was necessary for that career.

I have many friends who are stuck in the “get an education, go to college and get a “good” job” paradigm. But they lack the confidence and motivation to strike out on their own…

Interesting list of facts. I'm so impressed with anyone focused enough to start business at an early age. Did you have family encouragement or just the burning desire? I think it is very difficult for most kids to get started because their "wise" parents tell them to get an education, go to colege and get a "good" job. Outdated thinking in my opinion!
