GoDaddy: Enough Is Enough!
October 9th, 2007 by Adam
I don’t like GoDaddy’s marketing strategies.
I’m switching to NameCheap as my domain registrar of choice.
I realize that most people would rather buy from a cute chick that some old, bald, geeky dude (Bob Parsons), but in my opinion, GoDaddy’s marketing goes way beyond that. I guess I would rather buy from a registrar that doesn’t market domains with Playboy cover girls and commercials that make beer commercials look prudish.

agreed. way to be creative, godaddy. you got another hot girl for you lame advertising. i would fire my PR firm if i were them. they’ve already played that card for their superbowl ad. they’re also sponsoring danika patrick now too. BORING.

Yeah even though it might be getting a little old now they set out what they wanted to do..dominate the market. I see what your saying though and in the online world you have to stay ahead of the game…not sure if staying with hot women is the way but sex isn’t going anywhere

godaddy was a nighmare for me, my site was down almost every week, they need to spend more time on servers than on marketing

I don’t even care about the chicks — namecheap is cheaper (at 50+ domains, get a private coupon!) and better cp-wise — I prefer them too!

I have had a Go Daddy account for some time but never really paid attention to Bob’s marketing until one of his self-serving banner ads finally caught my eye. I started looking more deeply at what Bob does and even went to his site and blog. I was quite disturbed at his exploitation of women. His prurient pandering at motorcycle rallys, bars, parties and attempts at doing so on TV are a shame. What the heck does a scantily clad woman opening her legs on a motorcycle for a bunch of rowdy drunks have to do with domain names?
And, this is the biggie, there is a page on his site where he brags about his charitable work and lists some of the organizations he gives money to. Most of them are children and teen charities! Seeing that list with a banner above it with a pasty faced Bob and three of the women he exploits is just plain creepy.
